DATTERI RIPIENI

STUFFED DATES

My father worked in the Middle East countries all his life. On returning from each long trip he brought home a box of Medjoul, the king of dates. It was a kind of ritual where, when the family got together, we all tasted these wonderful fruits together on the couch.

This simple and delicious recipe is dedicated to him and our past together.

Of course, I gave him a sneak peek and he said they are amazing.
They are a fine dessert, a melting pot of different flavors, perfectly integrated within each other: sweet dates filled with bitter tahini, covered with melted dark chocolate.

Servings: 10 Dates | Prep. time: 10 mins + 10 mins rest | Cooking time: None

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 Medjoul dates
  • 50 gr dark chocolate
  • Tahini to taste
  • sesame seeds for decoration (optional)

– Cut the dates on one side, remove the petiole and the inner core.

– Fill them with Tahini, close the fruits and put them in the refrigerator for about ten minutes, so that the filling thickens.

– Melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie, dip the dates until they are completely covered and, with the help of a fork, let the excess chocolate drip.

– Place them on a wire rack or on a sheet of parchment paper.

– Decorate with sesame seeds and let them dry in the refrigerator, where you will keep them closed in an airtight container until you serve them.
