PANE ALLO YOGURT

YOGURT BREAD

As much as I love bread, I hardly prepare it at home. More than anything, I am not patient enough to wait for it to rise for hours.

That’s why I prefer this yogurt bread that doesn’t bake but does cook in a pan.

It has a similar texture to the indian Naan and it is ready in less than half an hour. It is delicious in its simplicity as well as being a perfect companion for both sweet and salty spreads.

Servings: 4 | Prep. time: 5 mins + 15 mins rising  | Cooking time: 5 mins

INGREDIENTS

  • 125 gr natural soy yogurt
  • 150 gr all purpose flour
  • 1 tsbp extra vergin olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder

– Using a wooden spoon, mix all the ingredients together until you get a homogeneous mixture and let it rest covered for about fifteen minutes. Don’t worry if it is sticky, because that’s exactly how it has to be.

– After rising, flour your hands, divide the dough into four pieces and roll them out with the help of a rolling pin at about ½ cm thick or even less,  sprinkling them with some extra flour if they stick to the work table.

– Cook them in a hot non-stick pan on both sides until golden bubbles will have formed.

Tips:
as an alternative to soy yogurt, you can use natural almonds yogurt
– as an alternative to baking powder you can use 1/2 tsp baking soda
